I’m finally upgrading after holding out for the 5K series GPUs and going with an Intel build. Looking for advice on a MOBO and CPU.

Current Setup (Old Build)
-GTX 1080
-i7 6700K
-16GB RAM

Parts I’ve Bought
-1000W PSU
-G.Skill 64GB RAM (~6400MHz, I believe)
-Case (using old one, but may get new one)

What I Need
-MOBO (Completely out of the loop, haven’t built in 8+ years)
-GPU (Waiting on stock for a RTX 5080)
-CPU (Any recommendations? I am planning going Intel)

This build will be mainly for PC gaming but also potentially machine learning and other tasks. Also planning to get a 4K monitor 27 inch but not sure if they are being manufactured yet. Looking for a high-quality, well-rounded motherboard.

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

You’ll have to make a choice first on Intel vs amd before you can make a board choice
Tbh I’d go AMD unless you have a specific reason for going Intel. The 9800x3d is the best gaming cpu on the market with the added benefit of getting you away from the 13th/14th gen Intel fiasco
