Hi!

I'm currently using this system:
34" 1440p Monitor
AMD Ryzen 5600x
RTX 3070 8GB
16gm 3600mhz RAM
1tb m.2

Playing Wow, D2r, Skyrim currently. I've wanted to test out some heavier games but the lack of fps makes it boring..

I've been thinking about buying an RTX 4080 Super during black friday. Upgrading from AM4 to AM5 is a big step surely but a high cost atm.

My question is, would the new gpu increase my fps significantly or will the CPU bottleneck the upgrade entierly?

Higher resolution = less CPU dependent. I would honestly snag an Aliexpress 5700x3d/5800x3d and call the CPU good enough for your needs.

I'd fish for a used 4800 or 4800 Super when 5 series hits. The DLSS 3.0 frame generation is great. Else, if was close to Microcenter still would wait and get 5800 on release day.

5600x should do fine for more gpu heavy titles. Definitely worth waiting for 5000 series release though imo, 2nd-hand 4080-super will be cheaper than anything you'll get in black Friday (especially since they're ramping down supply of them) or 5800 at release price

Using fsr3 will allow you to use frame gen. Not all games have this feature but games that do will boost your fps a lot and you should move to fsr instead of dlss when the option is there. Nvidia was nice enough to hardware lock frame gen to 40 series and up but not AMD.

I have a 34'' curved and I use an AMD Rx7800xt I get 120fps minimum max settings on just about every game I play. you don't need to go up to a 4080 but I understand the desire to.
