Hi, I have an 13y old pc. Upgraded the Graphics card to 2060.
I need a new mobo I would say. First question. Possible to play Fortnite/ D2R with 2060?
What CPU is recomanded ? AM4 possible ? Ryzen, there are so many I can not comprehend how to chose,. Would like something cheap, doesn’t need to be high end.
Any help or hints are aprichiated.
Thx

What resolution do you play at? RTX 2060 is plenty enough for 1080p.

Any 6+core CPU from Intel gen 8+ will do you fine for these games.

Ryzen 7800X3D or 9800X3D builds would be top-tier choices, of course you'll need to dump your wallet.

Personally, I'd roll with an old x99/aliexpress workstation if your budget is a concern.

I'd suggest that you get on the newish AMD platform and get the following combo:

AsRock B650 Motherboard with a 7500f CPU
Go for 32 gigs of 6000 m/ts ddr5 memory

This way, you're setting yourself up for an upgrade path in the long run as the motherboard will remain relevant until 2028 more or less and it will support plenty of upcoming CPUs.

This combo shouldn't set you back for more than $450 USD, but it's really future-proofing your computer in terms of upgradability.

A cheaper alternative to go for that will be equally good for the games you mentioned are:

b550 chipset motherboard (MSI is a good choice) + 5700x3d CPU
32 gigs of 3200 mhz ddr4 memory
I think the second combo will cost around $350 USD.

If possible I would go for the first option, it all depends how strict your budget is.

Any x3d CPU -- AM5 is the more future proof option (they did just release the 7600x3d)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gPhYJn

the just-announced CPU is $320 MSRP
note: if you want to go this route, i'll have to select the appropriate ram for you, just shoot me a pm if you're interested

total price is around $570 before shipping
alternatively, any AM5 to get you going in the right direction would be the move -- something like the 7600x for $206 would be fine here as it matches the 2060 you have quite nicely
