Hello guys,

had my pc for a while already, since January 2019.

Current spec

cpu 9900k
liquid cooling NZXT Kraken (forgot model) 3 fans
MB msi meg z390 ace
RAM DDR4 corsair vengeance 3600 cl18 32gb
storage 3GB HDD, 970 evo 512, 970pro 1tb nvme
gpu RTX 4080 (around 2 years ago mine got blown, managed to fix but that 2080ti wasn't giving its full power)
psu corsair RM850
case coolermaster with only side glass, rest naked
Monitor Alienware 175HZ 34 ultrawide 1440p OLED

Right now I have some things in my mind, but need some advice too. Budget is kinda unlimited, but I'm also thinking should I really go i9 or 90 gpu - will it really last longer than i7 and 80gpu? Aiming around 5 years unless there will be big step in evolution of everything.

Also planning staying on my monitor (so far very good, only thing bothers me is 1 broken pixel^), and probably won't go for overclocking, maybe slight preset, since I won't really be aiming for squishing extra 5-10 frames, or later when system will be getting a little bit weak.

So .. what I have on my mind

CPU: core ultra 265K vs 285K (leaning towards 265k)
AIO: no clue yet
MB: Ive always been on MSI mobos, got used to them, didn't really like ASUS bios and apps (from what Ive seen on other pcs), but also never really trusted MSI. What would be your choice of brand, and since no hard overclocking should I go for extreme one?
RAM: I know DDR5 is out, not following news, is DDR6 coming around? What would u advice. What is better now higher mhz or low CAS?
GPU: Most probably going for 5080, also been kinda MSI user, wanted to try EVGA but sadly they are out of gpu business
PSU: Looking for advice on manufacturer as well
STORAGE: Probably getting 3x nvme, 1 for windows 512gb, 2gb for gaming, and 3gb (not the best one) for stroage?
CASE: was thinking more of a stylesh PC (like mine is, picture will be below) rather than hypergaming look

Any advice/input is welcome. Thank you.

And If Im missing someting lmk :)

Avoid Intel CPUs, there’s a known issue on 13th/14th gen’s that causes them to BSOD and crash that cannot be fixed for now.

What kind of games do you play? A 4080 is more than enough for basically anything out right now. You’ll just need to upgrade your CPU which will require a motherboard + ram upgrade as well.

DDR5 just came out and they’re still working out the kinks, so I don’t think DDR6 will be a thing for a while, Atleast 5+ years unless some advances get made. Timing and speed both matter, but if you plan on getting more than 32gb of ram you should get a 2x32gb kit as higher speeds get unstable with 4 sticks of ram

I've read that Core ultra gen are build on a different chip and won't be overheating anymore

D2R, D4, and occasionally AAA games if I like it

Ye I know 4080 is enough. I was thinking to put this PC somewhere else as well, so thought of dropping it with a card. On the otherhand I could get a 3070 or 4060 ti for old one, and roll 4080 on a new. Or sell 4080 and get 5080 for a new pc as well.

I mean right now I could build 7800x3D/4080 PC and get 20-30 more fps which is not really an issue atm with wide 1440p with my 9900k. Or instead get something really future proof in the end of the year with 2024/2025 releases.

Hold out a bit for the next-gen CPU's.
