As topic says, I'm looking to build a new PC.

Budget: $2k-USD
Application: 99.99% gaming. WoW / Ascension WoW / FF14 / Beam.ng / Some FPS titles.

Current rough PC specs i'm upgrading from:
Ryzen 5 5600X (I think, can't quite recall if it's the 5600x or the 7600x)
XFX 5700XT
16G DDR4 Ram

I've been waiting a few years to upgrade and decided I want to pull the trigger this year.

I keep hearing the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is a great processor, and if it fits the budget I would like to pair it with 4070ti (or 4070Super).

Or if there is an Intel processor that's within my budget range that spanks my current 5600X, thats perfectly fine.

Again I'm only playing 1080p/240HZ, so maybe overkill, or maybe not enough, I dunno.

Let me know if I missed any vital information.

I don't need any peripherals, just Tower and guts. Don't care for water-cooling unless it's an absolute necessity.

This is what I've come up with thus far.
I'll likely just re-use my tower and my main NVME with the OS on it.

Let me know if anything looks out of place or odd.

Looks good :)
Only note is 4 sticks of DDR5 is usually unstable, so you may not be able to run XMP on your RAM to 6000 MHz. 5200 or so is plenty fast though

a couple of questions,

1) When you say "with the OS on it" I guess you're formatting and such, aren't you?
2) That GPU is a monster compared to the CPU. I suspect you'll have a BIG bottleneck on CPU-demanding applications.

To be completely honest, I may just go with a pre-built.
I know that'll cause waves, but the savings in building yourself vs prebuilt just aren't as big as they used to be.
That and there's also warranties and cable management I don't have to do.

It does goes against my better judgement, but I think that's the route I'm going to go.

He said he does 99% gaming, and 7800X3D is like the second best gaming CPU out right now.

Honestly if it's in your budget there's no shame in it. They usually come with a pretty good warranty too in case you have some issues

I'm just saying MMORPGs are quite CPU-hungry so you won't be needing that wild GPU or you can just upgrade that CPU to the Threadripper series (to avoid overusing the CPU) but I find a PC like that overkill tbh

You'll have 0 problems with a PC like that (or similar) in the next 10 years or more though

Aye, I appreciate all the responses gents!
Think I'm going to wheel it back a little bit and go with https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Prebuilt-Gaming-PC-GLX-99617

Cyberpower is hit/miss for most, but I've bought 2 systems from them (mind you well over 10 years ago before I built my own) and hadn't had any issues.

We shall see!

It is pretty overkill for MMOs, but there are a bunch of poorly optimized/resource heavy shooters that would benefit from his combo(Especially since he says he plays 240hz). He could always undervolt components too but that's a bit more technical ^_^

Yup, anyway for any CPU+GPU combo you choose try to find videos or technical specs about their noise (dbA/B/C); I got a Threadripper that makes more noise than a washing machine
So I end up turning on my m1 macmini...
