Just like I sent you in a PM, this build will stream fine. You can always spend more money for unnecessary upgrades like getting a different case or power supply, but it won't impact your actual performance. The only thing not in the build is an SSD which won't even make you able to stream better, it will just decrease load times for your OS and programs.

Just proving that you can get an i5 and 970 for under $1000. You won't get any noticeable performance gain between and i5 and an i7 assuming equal clock speeds while you're doing anything you want to do. The only reason to get an i7 is if you're going to be professionally editing whatever videos you may make. I'm not talking about silly little side stuff like adding a Windows Slideshow intro to the movie.

Also, a 980 will not give you as much of a glaring performance upgrade as some people are trying to make you believe. It performs a whole UP TO 20% better than a 970 while costing 70% more.

this sounds like some solid information

if i can build a good streaming pc for 1k vs 2k obviously i would pick 1k... lol

if it doesn't affect performance

While OBS is Hyperthreading enabled, it won't provide much of a performance bonus. The program is already pretty lightweight and works well enough without being multithreaded. The difference between and i5 and i7 with OBS is maybe like 4-5 FPS while streaming. Probably less than that. Doesn't really warrant the extra $100.

not going to argue that in a sterile situation, but most likely he will be using many other apps/background processes at the time of streaming

Well, yeah thats true. I'm just trying to say that, in my opinion, it isn't worth the extra $100 to get an i7 for the 4-5 fps increase while streaming.

Depends on how many apps he's running while recording the ht will only be useful if he runs a lot while recording
