I'm still going to get the 212 Evo but now I'm considering upgrading motherboards so I can overclock the 6300. I don't really want to overclock but instead of spending $160 on a processor, I'd rather spend that on a motherboard that gives more options (future proof more, offer overclocking, etc).

So yeah...I'm dumb. But whatever. I now realize my CPU is somewhat capable and my GPU is more than capable.

That's a great choice for the 212, and manage your cables for better airflow.

Yeah, if you ever visit b.c. Come on over, I'll play games on 3 different computers and you can tell me which one is which cpu, and how much fps I'm getting in a game without a program indicating it for you. Gl. :rofl:

also did you try forcing a game to max out a 50fps and then 55fps,
prolly not, do you even know how to do this? prolly not
also there are many games that would easily show the difference of amd dropping the ball
many mmos would clearly show it

you should read up on people are jumping ship,
you can do this at ocn, ltt, reddit,

Random question here... I know my MSI 970A-G46 should NOT be overclocked on due to a poor thermal design but is a small overclock safe? I'm talking maybe 1-300 mhz. Or is the risk not worth the small difference (which I probably won't notice?)?

people overclock on worse boards and get away with it. as long as you stay within just a few mhz you're probably fine, but i just wouldn't do it. not on that board.

Thought so. I think come tax season, I'll upgrade to a good board and overclock to 4.0 or something.

I push my 2600k on a UD4 to 5.5Ghz.
fuck temperatures just do it.
