i built a sexy 1700 build recently and i agree with yup.
if you're planning to game at 1080p/144hz the 7700k would be the better purchase for sure.
however OP states that he is a noob, plays rs/league/minecraft, so in his case the ryzen would be the better purchase as its more user friendly and those games don't require max fps and either CPU's will easily be overkill, so he might as well benefit from the multitasking portion.
also you guys care way too much about the future of unknown, by the time new games are released that actually benefit tremendously from more cores etc. both of these CPU's will be way outdated, and will be due for a new upgrade. Normally when a new tech comes out, it should be better than the existing tech. However, Ryzen is still behind. What happens when coffeelake's released? it'll be the new go to chip namsayin
