Once again, I've had no issues with a 500-550w power supply at load with a 7970 & 680.
And you can overclock.
You cannot contest this point.

I can!! You think anecdotal evidence is worth much to me? I'm giving proof with multiple sources/charts/graphs and you're just stating your claims with no evidence.

If you want to prove your point, do some benchmarking, record the load, and give full specs of your PC. Until then, get out of here! and what's with the ambiguous 500-550? How do you have one PSU that's between those two numbers? If you knew your specs you'd say that it was 500 OR 550... 680 consumes considerably less power than the 7970.

You cannot overclock, I CAN contest this point, I HAVE provided evidence to support it.

5 semesters, to be precise.

Im not going to justify myself to an idiot. :)
And Im fully aware of my specs, benchmarks, power draw and temps. :)

I've learned, from many fried/underpowered PC's, to always underestimate a PSU rather than overestimate... You'll start bottlenecking your entire build if you have too small of a PSU. You can't upgrade your system with a PSU that is at the bare minimum. As the PSU ages its efficiency WILL decline (proven, don't even try to disprove this one.) over time, and your previously stated 500w will slowly creep lower and lower, making the system feel slower and slower, and eventually it won't be able to power such a power-house like the 7970 / 8320... He will, most likely, decide to OC eventually too. You cannot OC on a 500w PSU.

It IS nonsensical to use a 500w PSU in a $1,000 build. You cannot contest this point.

Do you even know how to calculate total wattage? I highly doubt it.

So your response to a request to support your claim is to simply avoid the subject completely?

I'm stuck nowhere.

I'm catching up quickly, and am already posting the best builds again x_x.

When I've been proven wrong, I've taken the advice and used it in builds.

When you people refuse to be proven wrong, you just start slandering and avoiding the topic.

well , according to your evidence , it would be perfectly fine to overclock, since it won't draw too much wattage to be in the danger zone.

yeah , plenty of things have changed by then.

Do you?

If calculating for a build I'd simply use a calculator... But common sense dictates the size of PSU's needed in a build kind of easily.

Again, $1,000 build + 500w ($25) PSU is stupid. Just down right stupid. Spend another $20 and get at least a 600w.

At LEAST go for the better version of it: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx600
cx600 is only $40... and is 600w/80PLUS.

OCZ has a 650w/80PLUS going for only $45!! http://pcpartpicker.com/part/ocz-power-supply-oczzt650w

Common sense dictates that, once again, you have no clue what you're talking about.
