Might consider a used GTX 760 2gb or 4gb on the feebay; maybe a cool overclocked one by MSI, EVGA, Asus, etc. It would be about the same price as that SAPPHIRE R7 370 4gb and likely out perform it. If you're using 1080p resolution you can get by with 2gb of vram. Just know that if you go with 2gb, you're probably not going to be running "very high" or "ultra" textures in new games. But that's fine, new games still look great on medium-high textures.

what about a gtx 950? Found one on ebay for $129.99 that also comes with a $30 rebate

I think I'd wait for a bit. The way the prices are falling, you may be able to get a GTX 970 for $200 pretty soon. ^^

I've been watching them. Auctions this last week have been ending in the $215-235 range. Though i dont know how quickly they are dropping.

In terms of in-game performance, the 760 is usually about the same as the 950. In some games, one or the other will have an advantage, with the 760 performing slightly better on average. The 950 has lower power consumption at 90W vs 170W on the 760. This would save you some money over time. Also its nice to buy new, right?

It comes down to how much performance you are willing to pay for. I think either the 760 or 950 would be fine if you're looking for a card that can run demanding games on medium-high settings and still get 50-60 FPS (with the exception of a few poorly optimized games). If you want better, you might want to aim for a gtx 970 (I would buy used).

I think the 950 should be good for me, especially for how cheap it is. And I can't even game at 1080p or anything since my monitor is only 1366x768 (that's gonna be my next upgrade after a video card) plus I think it'd be kinda ridiculous to put a $200+ video card in a pc I paid 245 for

Wow. I got my first 1080p monitor 8 years ago. About the time i got my geforce 9800 GTX.

And no it wouldn't be ridiculous to put in a $200 GPU in your system. Because nothing in your system would really bottleneck it.
That you don't have the money for it is another thing.

A 950 or 760 is adequate today, but its going to be a mediocre performer in upcoming games. For new games, those cards fall about in the mid range for minimum requirements and recommended requirements. Basically, its going to work, but you will face some games where FPS dip down into the 40s and 30s. which is unacceptable to me. I think you would be a lot happier with a 970 or better. Maybe wait till the GTX 1060 comes out and see how prices are looking then.

I've been using a laptop up until a week ago so I really had no need for a monitor. Found this HP lv1911 monitor on craigslist for $20 and figured it'd be good for a lil bit, just wanted to make sure I had one by the time I got my pc. But yeah I just don't really need a crazy graphics card because the games I play aren't very demanding. The only one this gt430 is having problems with is Dead by daylight. I can play it fine on low but it looks like a ps1 game or something lol

I could afford a better graphics card and monitor but I'm saving money for a new car atm and I'm not worried about playing stuff on ultra settings. Medium-High would be chill

I think the point everyone is trying to make is...why buy a vid card...TWICE?
IF you can afford a decent vid card, you may as well buy it...then down the road, you won't have to buy one ...again.

/e With JUST a decent vid card...your computer will be good to go...for a while. :)
