Ya that's what I thought for the optical drive and mouse.
I don't know anything about keyboards so I have no idea what the difference is in higher end ones.
For monitor I'm looking to spend no more than 200 because I don't think I need to.

First one isn't listed on NCIX at all and I don't think I'm willing to go under 23 inches on the monitor :(

Thoughts on this? http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=82232&vpn=24EA53V-P&manufacture=LG%20Electronics&promoid=1281

I'll prob get the LG one then.
Also I just realized I don't have a sound card
Is it built into one of these items? http://i.imgur.com/MVOqeyL.png
(probably a really dumb question)

yeah theres an integrated sound chip on the mobo. you'll want a sound card if you have audiophile grade headphones. i would get an external dac and amp if you do have those headphones.

I don't have a headset yet though I don't have Beats by Dre for my music.
So are you saying it'd be best then for me to get a soundcard?
I also have a small amp. It's pretty old but hasn't been used much. It'd be ideal if I could use that still.

What should I look for in a soundcard?
