How much browser shit did you keep open? Anything that's not a triple a title won't use even 4gb of ram. That still leaves 2 for os/background apps and 2 for browser. If you can't make 8 work that's operator error.

Also, this way there the ability to add more ram down the road without losing on cost vs replacing a part that won't be re-used. Better overall value.

Yeah, that doesn't sound right... I can have jsp, YouTube, twitch, reddit, and a couple other article pages running, while having spotify, discord, and BO4 open and it's only around 7gb of usage.

E/ dont get me wrong, 16gb is a nice luxury and a better deal usually, but at his price point there's better stuff to spend his money on IMO.

Would it be beneficial to lower the ram speed if she won't be multitasking a lot of things? or is 3k basically the bare minimum now?

High ram speed generally help keep minimum frame rates up. 3200 is kindve the sweet spot for ryzen.
3k but lower CL is better for intel.
