Which these days gets picked up and run with by just about every idiot that can't overclock for some reason.

Overclocking used to have a practical purpose, but I haven't overclocked since the Phenom days. There is simply no need to anymore, hardware has come so far ahead of software even my 3 yrs old 4790k at max cpu state 65% blows my hairline away.

Nowadays the only people overclocking are hobbyists doing it for the sake of doing it. Gone are the days of trying to squeeze every bit of juice out of that Prescott so that a game that came out just 2 years after the high-end cpu are playable. You have to be massively behind the curve for it to be a problem, or just love having a bloated, junkware infested system. I curated my windows 7 to the point where it's comparable to KDE Linux in RAM/CPU usage on boot so meh.
