I flashed the BIOS to the newest version.

However, in the AI Overclock Tuner setting in the BIOS, there is no XMP option. There is only Auto and D.O.C.P. Any ideas?

It's the ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F Gaming
RAM is Patriot Viper 4 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Model: PV48G320C6K

e/ nvm apparently DOCP is XMP

Now my DRAM frequency in CPU-Z is showing ~1600 MHz. I have dual channel RAM. Is that what it should say for 3200 MHz? I set it to DOCP and the speed in BIOS was automatically set to 3200.

DDR = Double data rate.
So it is reading it correctly.

XMP = Xtreme Memory Profile
Its a preprogramed timing/voltage/speed setting programed into the ram.
It can be wrong at times though.

In this case Auto = XMP

Awesome, thanks! That wasn't bad. I got worried as fuck after I flashed my BIOS because after the first reboot it forced me to go into BIOS, on the second reboot the PC randomly shut off during boot and restarted, then the third time it went straight into BIOS without loading Windows after a long pause. I was sure it was dead lol. But then I just restarted again and it's working perfectly now.

From what I read, ASUS mobos use DOCP instead of XMP and don't use XMP at all? Under Auto it was running at 2133 MHz. I didn't think it was the same as XMP. Maybe I misunderstood though.

DOCP is from asus for AMD mobo's only to avoid royalties to Intel for XMP IIRC.
Though its essentially the same thing.

Gigabytes has EOCP also the same reason.

Yea that's what I thought. So Auto is not = XMP, correct?

Neither are XMP.

Auto is pulling setting from RAM like XMP.
DOCP is pulling settings from the MOBO (similar process to xmp but different source).

Best bet is setting it to manual and configuring it yourself.
If its working now and your still lost just leave it be as its fine.

Oh ok your quote just confused me:

Thanks for clearing it up.

Yeah I think I'll just leave it as it is for now, it's running at 3,200 and seems stable and I'm happy with that.
