I didn't mean to spark an argument lul

I'm not going to overclock anything. I know nothing about it.

I don't wanna have to sell my CPU and buy a new one. I just want to built my pc and have it be reliable for a good couple a years.

Not that into tech :D Try explaining your points like it was to a four year old :D :D

and please keep it civil

the 8400 will last you longer than couple of years, especially if you're just sticking to those games you listed. Though if you decide to branch out to more demanding games, you'll upgrade to a better GPU first.
The "K" chips, (Ex. 8600k) people pay premium for because of the ease of overclocking with them. However, since you have no plans on overclocking, there's no need for you to fork out the extra $$$.
Those are better spent on a much better GPU that you stated don't want. So at this point, you have 2 options. Either save money, or if you still want to spend up to 1100 you focus on acethetics/quality. Based on the case you picked out, seems like you care for acethetics.

And you know if he is? You're making just as much assumptions.

I did not say "sell it right away", btw, that's just you distorting/interjecting words in my mouth, which is kinda of sad tbh. I said later, if he wanted to upgrade he could sell it and take advantage of the z370 mobo.

and the 8600k is far cheaper than the 7700k and performs better

Edit: Also, lol @ 28 yr old, you sir.. need to seek help

im not making assumptions, spending $70 on a poor price/perf CPU is not ideal. When that could be spent on a GPU upgrade that the OP doesnt want anyway. So why do you think it's a good idea??

If you didnt mean sell it right away, that's even worse. Who the fuck upgrades later in the future from a non k chip to a k chip of the same generation socket???

and the 8400 is far cheaper than both 8600k and 7700k and performs just as good, what's your point?

I see you're still in denial of her age, funny you think i need help. Maybe you should get some cuz you're clearly hoping a late 20's chick is a minor.

iuno.. maybe because you have a fucking z370 mobo that can take ADVANTAGE of the K cpu? and get some money back?

btw, as i said, seek help having that kind of shit in your profile

get some money back by spending more $$$$ on 8600k, while selling 8400 for less than what he bought and get some money back, just so he can "take advantage" of the 8600k. He ends up spending more $$ in the end. Very smart 10/10.

Or accept the fact that OP isn't going to overclock, isn't going to take advantage of the mobo, the extra $$$ he paid for the mobo already paid itself as being a necessary to use the best/perf cpu, and by the time he NEEDS an upgrade get a brand new CPU and mobo that's relevant in 4+ years.

btw as i said, seek help since you're in denial of her age and strongly hoping she's a child

Sounds like jealousy
