Well, the 8 pin connector on your motherboard is exactly the same as the one on my old ass AMD motherboard.
Your power supply is an ATX power supply...it SHOULD work.

They ARE compatible.

Okay so let's say I plug the 8 pin connector on my motherboard, what should be at the other end of the cable to make it possible to connect to the psu?

Another 8pin connector?

/e Your motherboard manual says: you can use EITHER.... the 8 pin by itself or the 8 pin and the 4 pin.
Your power supply provides both of those choices.
