If your dive was newer I would skip the 1 TB drive. However, I'm always a litle leery of reusing drives without knowing the health of them. It's a gamble from time to time.

I have this same CPU in an HTPC that I also use as a DVR and it works flawlessly. I would recommend it highly for a low budget gaming pc as it does very well in benchmarks as compared to the I3 and G3258.

Again, it's a matter of preference. You could always upgrade the GPU to an R9 380 at a later date and there would be no bottleneck .

Did a Micro-ATX build also.

Use your friends GPU and no need for an aftermarket cooler or Z97 board if not overclocking.
