Overclocking would make it bottleneck less lol
ur using a decade old chip, any GPU nowadays will bottleneck it and there's nothing unsafe about it, you just wont be utilizing it at 100%

Thanks for that heads up, but I think I'll be okay with just the card and ram upgrade for now.
I might replace the h100 since I've had it for quite some time and I imagine the liquid inside isn't as efficient as a new one would be.

So, I have another question that might be relevant.

About a week ago, I decided to flash the bios because there was an updated one available.
After doing it, I kept getting weird errors like 32 and 00.
I pulled the onboard battery and used the jumper pins to clear the cmos, which sorta fixed it.
I had to wipe the drives and reinstall windows fresh, but everything seems to be fine now.
I guess my question to this is, should I roll the bios back to what it originally was or just leave it as is before installing the new gpu/ram?

Furthermore, can't I use the 2x ram sticks I currently have and the 2x ram sticks I just bought together?

You are supposed to set the BIOS to defaults, then flash it.

It's generally better to use a matched set of RAM. The test the sets, as sets, so they can guarantee, the will be stable.

Buy a 16GB set (2x8GB), and save the RAM you have now for emergency replacements, if you ever have to RMA the 16GB set

Yikers, well everything seems to be okay for now.

I'm considering OCing the cpu to 4.5 and see where it goes. I forget which programs I used before and honestly how to OC it, but I think I can google it.
