aside from downgrading psu quality for more $$$ and buying pricey aio cooling option for stock speeds i guess? if he can go 1.3k, why not just get 1080?
idk seems like ur friend wants to get whatever at this point lol. Just get him what makes him happy, he's already paying more for less so might as well get something he is satisfied with :)

I was trying to do a liquid cooler with your amd build...

Couldnt do it

I tried to put one in it...it didnt like it.
I talked him into the amd but he wants a liquid cooler

So the 1080 works..

He also wanted gold psu and not bronze.

He wants the best but he wants specific small stuff

that's what we have hard time understanding.. he wants the best but he's keep picking parts that are worse.. and for more $$ lol.
gold and bronze mean efficiency.. has nothing to do with quality.. seasonics > fsp by far. Oh well, like i said, get what he will be satisfied with at this point.

he wont be overclocking, so he will be perfectly fine with the stock cooling it comes with. It's not like the old amd coolers, these are actually pretty well made, it's chambered and quiet.
ryzen 1700 ones come with rgb lighting as a bonus, and it's much easier to install than the intel stocks ones.
He should get a cooler later on when he actually needs it, if he plans to OC it to 3.9+ etc. I'd advise ur friend to try out the stock first, and if he doesn't like it for some odd reason, he can get liquid cooling then.

To complement the Gtx 1080 I recommend

pentium g4600 (processor)
h110m (mobo)
EK-KIT L360 R2.0 (cooler)
DEEPCOOL GENOME (case)
