should have gone for an lga 2011-v3 build instead if you were going to spend that much.
the most important core component is the one you spent the least on

By the way installing an OS like Windows on an NVMe drive is quite a pain, good luck.

thanks for saving me $100 on windows, ill grab a copy from there and do the usb drive.

also ordered 4x corsair ml120 pwm fans since i already have a nice fan controller.

Why ask if you were just going to ignore advice

Tbh your Comp was fine

Because if you're reusing psu and case you can't sell your current

I'll upgrade the psu and case in the next month or two, I'll should be able to sell the previous

TBH though I'm not sure an i2600k with a 980 card is worth a ton of coin

What are the issues with installing windows on an nvme drive? I googled prior to buying and didn't find anything

ty for input bros
computer is a monster now
everything booted right up and worked right away
ram using the XMP profile is running at 3200 speed, 16-18-18-38 1.35v, totally stable
was able to OC to 5ghz using the asus stored 5ghz profile, totally stable. may have hit the silicon lottery ordering from amazon. temps during stress testing don't exceed 79c
WD black seems to be a great media storage drive, very fast, runs cool at 30C
1080ti is a monster, have not tried to push past stock clocks, which are still higher than FE cards. maxes at 57c under load
asus maxmius ix hero seems to be a great mobo.
samsung m.2 nvme 500gb evo drive is incredible for speed.
