You can pretend that I can't read a bar graph, but you're the one ignoring the bar graphs that I'm actually posting in the thread that undercut what you're saying and show that even if it's not the case in every game, there are plenty of games for which it is true and those games have a strong tendency to be newer, meaning that it's pretty likely to continue into the future as a trend. You can ignore that as you like, but pretending that I'm somehow failing to understand the chart is absolutely baffling.

What this guy is trying to say is, get SLI 970 if you want to waste money buying 2 old out dated cards. Or you can grab a 980 ti, i7 6700k and memory for around 1000$.

It'll perform better than SLI 970 and you can get another one in the future to run SLI 980 ti if you NEED to. As for pascal/etc, I highly doubt that a 300$ card will be BETTER than a 980 ti. Rumors/claims from AMD aren't really to be trusted, look at their fx CPUs

Okay let's put aside the vram shit, when someone has to buy a video card altogether and he doesn't have a gtx 970 already. Are you going to argue that buying a ti isn't smarter? Considering how you can get a ti that isn't factory OC'd for as low as 550$ and two new gtx 970 comes to around 600$ish? So you're advising someone to buy two older cards to run SLI, that provides the same if not slightly less performance than a single card, that can also run SLI years later if you feel like you need the power?

Now let's get back to vram, OP wants a build that lasts. How long will your 3.5 vram SLI stay relevant? A year? Two?

Just build last month. Problem I had was I didn't have a workable computer at all. If you can wait do so, just know you'll be waiting a couple months. The first month of release you can't really find the new stuff

Lol been running everything fine on surround for year and half on 970sli and before that 670 sli on release
Before that 6850 xfire for couple weeks and before that 460 sli
Now tell me where my sli issues are?

Not many games actually use vram like you think they allow more to be cached yes but didn't fo shit majority of the time
Bit rate plays huge part also if you didn't know

This is really the heart of it. I don't get a chance to spend money on shit like this very often and so I definitely need something that's going to be future proof. I don't want something that's good enough to run everything well right now, I want it to be good enough to run the newest games on medium in 5-6 years.
