didnt think of this earlier.. you could replace the mobo and cpu for the same cost as the older gen cpu upgrade.. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vBJgRB ( i personally have this mobo, with the 8320 overclocked from 3.5ghz to 4.5 .. ive had no issues at all with this combo. it chews up everything ive thrown at it.. my rig: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3mgL6h

or.. just upgrade the vid card, that should relieve a lot as well.. but again.. it will all depend on wether your power supply will run eveything okay or not. may need to upgraade that as well..

He needs to upgrade both his cpu and gpu. His gpu is complete shit as well, not even worth only upgrading a cpu.
I'm not sure why you guys are all focusing on upgrading the CPU only.
With this system you are at the point where one upgrade will not improve your overall experience much and you might as well get a new system.
It would be better for you to upgrade your GPU rather then anything else, at least you would be able to use that in your future system.
But at this point, I wouldn't recommend upgrading anything else, as anything else you put in your system will not perform as well within a couple years.
Everything you will have would be outdated and if new games or software comes out that require better performance from your computer will not perform well enough and you won't have the option to make any significant upgrades.
Just build a whole new system and use this one as a HTPC or sell it for cheap on craigslist.
Otherwise you are spending your money on things that are totally not worth it.
