Use this guide it's not as hard as it seems. However, I suggest using 2 Nvidia or 2 AMD cards.

But im lost how this telling Windows which hardware thing though

It only works in games supported by DX12 I don't see anything about any other games. Anandtech are the first to have done it. I'm just wondering how it works otherwise.

Because microsoft took something open source and tried to replicate it, and somehow broke it.

nobody is mentioning the HBM meme that is coming out this-next year being the biggest GPU boost in like 10 years?

HBM is already out in the Fury and Fury X. AMD finally got it past 4 GB stacks and are supposed to introduce a 12 GB HBM card this spring.

I agree.
But, people are so misinformed.
That's why I'm waiting for Pascal and the new AMD cards to be released.

I believe it will be more than that. Seeing how they figured stacks out and made a completely new architecture and they even improved the memory as well. Of course Nvidia fanboys will claim they did it first,

Well for me choosing a grafics card looks like this:
http://www2.pic-upload.de/img/29705274/Switch.png

As long as it is possible to do it on laptops there will be some ways to make it work on desktops as well. You might have to do some research here.
If there is no easy way to do that on desktops then just make use of the AMD Virtualization and assign each grafic card to a VM.

But getting a single more powerfull grafic card might be the most simple solution, but also the most expensive one.
