Run Aida64, not Prime95.

Are you planning to overclock or just checking the stability of the CPU.

If just stability then no need to hardcore stress test it with Prime95 as it will probably run it to 95 degrees...

Am I off on this or what...

Aida64 is a stress test too :p

i mean, for the purpose of making sure it works, yeah prime not needed. if OC'ing, then run prime, aida, cinnabench, unigine valley, and a couple games.

Yep I know, I've just read and seen on videos that Prime95 seems to run the Haswell CPU's too hot, like 90+. Which in any case, you'd wanna chill out at that point anyways. Something between how Prime95 and the Haswell processors coordinate with one another, they start to get into a bunch of technical jargon that's over my head

Since it's used and he doesn't know the condition of the processor (probably perfectly fine, but), and he isn't overclocking then I don't see the need to play around with a hardcore artificial stress tester. BUT I guess if he's paying attention to temps and only runs for a small amount of time it's probably no biggy :)

Kinda along my line of thinking. Especially since he's not overclocking and just testing comparatively for "real world" usage :)
