Hard to enjoy a 980 with a stock cooler....

Yes, but then it's another expense to you, and you might as well get a 980 that already has a better cooling system.

Don't worry about the cooling.. if you aren't going to overclock it you are fine... especially with the lower TDP of the new architecture.. only worry if your temps seem to get too high and your computer either 1) shuts off OR 2) it slows down a lot

okay so the 980 didn't end up working out

now i'm just deciding between the 290x and the 970
