it's quality, but overkill

8gb ram, i5 would suit be sufficient, i'd change the case (R5 fractal, corsair 540)

EXCELLENT BUILD !!!

/e If I would change anything it would be the PSU...to the EVGA 750w or 850W gold...it has a 10 year warranty and will easily handle the overclocking you seem to be planning on, and the 2nd GTX 970 you seem to be planning to get. :)

Eh
i7 likely unnecessary
most likely doesnt need 16 gb ram
much better psus for the price
storage drive way more expensive than necessary
motherboard is overboard unless he wants to heavily overclock

Don't you believe it, I've had WD Black's for SATA, SATA II and SATA III...haven't had one fail yet.

I've had the same WD Blue and Seagate Barracuda for 5 years. No failures. Hell, the blue has been spinning 24/7 for 3 years.

Not saying they're bad drives - just not necessary.

For OS drives..I would probably agree...storage is a whole nother ball game. They don't develop them as fast, it seems. Hell, every Black I own still works perfectly, most of which have done at least 4 years 24/7. In run time my original 36GB Raptor is still running after 7-8 years of 24/7.

Not to mention the 2TB Blacks I'm running right now get 191 Mb/s on Crystal Disk Mark. Hell my newest Velociraptor only gets up to 222 Mb/s

@ DeXaFiLaH I'm not dissing ANY WD drives, but the Blacks do have the longest warranty. ^^

@ OP...you even got the right model number 2TB Blacks...the FZEX, I'm running two of them right now.

With anything from WD or EVGA...register it within 30 days.

Ok there it is I think this is a good build for Gaming/Photography/Video Streaming ect, What do you guys think. Eventually I'll upgrade to 32 gb ram and 2x 970's but for now this build should do everything I want and more.
And Dexa I would just get 8gb ram and an i5 but I'd rather just upgrade all that now and spend a few hundred more dollars.

Now I have a 800ish budget for 2x 27'+ monitors.
Any suggestions for monitors?

For monitors, It depends on what you do with your comp...

For fps gaming: You'll want a fast refresh rate

For pretty much all else: you want great color, low pixel pitch etc.

It seems the go to resolution these days is 2560 x 1040p

/e ASUS and DELL are great companies, for monitors. So are Samsung, BenQ etc. make sure they have all the connections you want.

I'd avoid the 4K monitors for a while longer till the prices come down more.

All Im saying is, with 8gb and an i5 you could run your game on one screen while streaming it and 15+ tabs of poker on the other and still not be maxed out. The only reason to get 16gb is if you 3D render and model in Photoshop. Even then, if you only rarely do 3D stuff, the extra memory won't save you much time.

Photoshop is also the only thing you listed that supports Hyperthreading. Even then, it isnt fully supported through all features of the software. An i7 will give you nearly no benefit over an i5 aside from a higher stock clock speed which is easily remedied in the BIOS.
