Yea I get that a 980 + i7 + 16 gig's of memory is pretty overkill for most of what I need and what is out there. But I want to go at least 3 years without having to upgrade anything. Future me might not have money like this to play with so I may as well.

First part on the way! Decided to ease off abit and do a i5 / 970 / 8g Memory setup.

What is different between these two?

I guess there are these as well. Very close in price and 5/5 stars with lots of good ratings.

Still kinda lost as to what memory. Figure I might just get 2 x 8G's. Mobo and GPU I ordered are below paired with a i5 4690k. Been kinda hard having to decide on i5 or i7 and 8 or 16. The price difference for the next tier is only about 80 for the RAM and 100 for the CPU.

MSI ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-G45 GAMING

MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G Graphics Cards GTX 970 GAMING 4G

Now been looking at a few and these are the links. These first two are kingston fury/beast and says they retail for around 260 and are on sale for 150-160. These are clocked at 1866mhz.

These are the G-skill and Corsair. $150 range and 1600mhz

So with that said all 4 have great reviews. Is that $100+ difference on the kingston just because they are already clocked at 1866? Another question I had was the viability of having the OS on a SSD. Other then booting up fast what are the other advantagesa OS on SSD has over just putting the OS on a normal HD? Also, this Black Friday stuff/thing going on. I dont know much about it. Anything crazy I am missing out on?

Also curious about what kind of timeline for price drops do computer components have now? When will 2 x 8's be the same price as 2 x 4's? When they release or make 16 GB memory? Ram seems to double each time if I remember right? I remember 256 -> 512 -> 1 -> 2 - > 4 and now the 8GB are out. Would 4 x 4 GB of memory run the same? worse? Then 2 x 8's? When will i7 be the price of i5? When will the 980 be the same price as the 970?

Bumping. Was also wondering what OS people tend to use. I like windows 7 but I kind of wonder if you will need 8 or 8.1 down the line.
