The FX9590 would most closely compare to the i7 4790k. Both of them are 4 Physical, 8 Logical, Cored processors.

The 5960X has 8 physical cores and 2 logicals per physical so 16 total threads versus the previous two processors. You cant compare the 5960X to any AMD consumer cpu.

I know, but where are the 16 thread programs or games. ?


For busines..modeling etc....sure go Intel...for gaming...don't really matter.


/e All ya really need for gaming is 60fps on Ultra. Well OK, 80fps for an fps. Hell my AMD 955 @ 3.8 Ghz / GTX 280 could get 1000 fps on D2.


/ee ....and for cooling...you could cool any AMD on air at full OC....cept the 9000 series.

i'd go with AMD personally, since you won't notice the difference with intel for the average consumer.

More expensive then AMD
rarely used to it's full potential to make it a justifiable over AMD which is cheaper.

better multi threaded performance until you go compare to the higher end, but they are too expensive compared to what AMD has to offer for the money most of the time.

Doesnt save me time, if I'm not using it to full potential. For example, I only play cs/stream 1-2 hr a day. Only thing intel does for me is allowing me to play few extra seconds longer? Sure overtime, it'll add up to hours etc. But I gain no benefit from that cos it's not like the amount of extra hours adding up later will do anything. Whoo pee doo I get 1 extra kill or get rekt for the extra time saved.

However if I'm making a living off of making promo vids or something then hell yeee
