So I've put the CM 212 Evo in and there is no difference in temperature according to speedfan (compared to the old stock cooler) despite not trying to OC yet.

I read on their website that it may take up to 200 operating hours before the temperature settles to what it will normally be at post-installation. Guess I'll wait and hope!

Thank you all for your suggestions

Did you check load temps or just idle temps? Does is still sound like it's going to blow up?

I checked both. Both are still the same - I used it instantly, though.

So here we are, 37 days later, most definitely 200+ operating hours after the installation of the CM 212 Evo...

I have not OC'd to this point, and still, my GPU is reaching and staying at 91, even 92 degrees celsius while playing Civilization 5, and now also Civilization Beyond Earth...

I am a total noob with stuff, but my guess is that it is something else that is causing such high temperatures, considering the cooler master didn't help. Any suggestions/thoughts on how to figure out why it's overheating are greatly appreciated

Gpu overheating, I believe earlier we believed your CPU fan was making the racket, not the GPU. Probably dried thermal compound.

Embarrassing, but I didn't even know the GPU had thermal compound.

I put some new arctic silver 5 on there just now and it's maxing out at 70 now, as opposed to 92. Thanks a lot buddy :D
