Yeah, putting anything up to the 5800x3d is a tall task, it's def one of the fastest gaming chips out rn but I agree the i5 13600k is better price to performance for what the market reflects. Price justifiable if you can find them in stock and on sale (5800x3d).

I personally wouldn't go current Gen just because of the prices and you'd still wind up going DDR4 probably. Your main wants/needs will be GPU dependent and the i5 12400F won't be bottlenecked at 1440p where the majority of games are GPU bound. I understand the premise of wanting the 'K' variant overclocking chips, but it's typically unnecessary for common gamers and especially your tasks. The build I posted comes in at $1708.89 USD (monitor included) and leaves room for RGB Streamer Cables, the option to switch fans out with RGB or White Accent Variants. Essentially a lot of leftover flow for the accessories that make the case pop the way you want it to. Noctua has a line of fans that you can accessorize with color anti vibration pads, etc that are pretty cool. I added the Dell 1440p 165hz IPS Flat Panel monitor as an option, I've never had luck with any Gigabyte monitors I've purchased and they've always been underwhelming. Dell makes fantastic monitors and are priced accordingly, and they always have Black Friday deals.

I didn't add much of any white into the build, it would come through on your Cooler Master ML280 Mirror ARGB AIO (Unbelievable deal @ $29.00 ~ they are blowing them out for the next series) and the ROYAL Ram. Essentially the white would be the RGB you choose, rest is Black/Graphite.

GL on your PC Build Journey

Thank you very much.
The reason I wanted K models was because I thought that made it so that accessing the Bios you get the easy-to-use version vs the MDOS version. Is that not the case? I thought you needed the integrated graphics to get the consumer friendly bios.

I don't know anything about OC so probably won't be doing that.

Brb while I check out the build list.

Someone from Bitwit's discord just offered me this parts list.
Posting it here in case it has any issues or things I should/should not do.

And from the AMD side, this was their recommendation.
I may be more inclined to AMD so that I can drop in the x3D in like 4-5 years time as an upgrade. Not sure though, that's why I'm posting here lol

Sorry missed context: the 7700x has a $250 off combo deal with that mobo/ram

pick your case, i'd go with 2 SSD since u got the budget for it. otherwise 1 is completely fine too, easier to manage.

highly recommend using rtings for your monitor. I'd get two.

based on the games and intention you wrote, i'd recommend dell as their picture quality blows any competition.
i still use my dell ultrasharp over asus rog 165hz monitor from almost a decade ago if i am not playing a fps game lol.

My recommendation is best to wait for x3D early next year to make a proper decision but if you really need now the best bang for buck is to get a 13600k with previous gen z690 board with ddr4 ram as ddr5 has proven there is extremely minimal gains over ddr4 with there being zero gains to be had for gaming.

Bios should be the same, sometimes it can be easier to setup a new PC with a CPU that has integrated graphics, but should be np at all with RX6800XT out of the box. I could be wrong, this is just from my experience.

Not a bad idea for future proofing, but I doubt you'd actually need to upgrade the CPU from a 7700X to a 7700x3d when it's available for your applications. It would literally just be gravy to smother yourself in, which is nice sometimes :)

If you can get a deal on AM5 platform that is sensible, it's definitely worth considering.

Dell all the way. I've had high end LG's, Mid/High Tier Gigabytes/MSI's and none of them compare to the Dell's I've owned. I deviated this time & my most recent pick was the BenQ Mobiuz 27" 1440P 165hz HDRi and it's rather impressive.
