I'm a bit confused with the Gaming Edge having USB-C on the front I/O. You should be looking at MSI site.

https://us.msi.com/Motherboards

Filter for ATX form factor and X570 chipset. Compare the Tomahawk, Gaming Edge and Gaming Plus. At the bottom is the front I/O.

both sites had the correct comparables I just misread one label :)

I’m running into some problems, can’t figure it out.

I ended up doing a whole new PC bad just moving my 2060 over to it.

Here is the build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/d2nHmk

The problem I’ve had and spent about 8-9 hours (at least) trouble shooting is, my NVME drive (OS) becomes undetectable (in the Bios) whenever I plug in my other drives.

It seems to work with my 3TB Seagate, but not always.

The way I’ve had to handle if it unplug all the drives, take out my NVME put it into my old PC, boot it up THEN put it back into my new PC with none of the other drives plugged in.

The thing is, this only started when I went to reformat the NVME drive after getting the computer up and running. It was fully functional able with all 4 drives prior to trying to reformat it.

When I first reformatted it and starting to reinstall windows 10 on the NVME, it errored and about 10GB of data got installed on it. Ended up needing to reboot the PC to get back to it to reformat it again and reinstall windows 10. But then once I rebooted it was undetectable. As long as my other drives are unplugged it seems to reboot and function fine.

I’m at a loss, I’ve tried searching every forum I can think of for an answer, so it’s time for me to start asking the community on here.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or advice. I’d be happy to provide additional information from my system.

Go into the BIOS and ensure that your OS drive is before all other drives that you're connecting. You should remove all other drives from the boot order and also physically.

If your OS drive is not being detected on the BIOS, check your storage physical connection (is it wedged in all the way?).

Have you updated/flashed your BIOS?

Below are just some additional, curious questions that I have, which may or may not be related.

Does any of the other drives have Win10 in it?

When you installed Win10 on the OS drive, did you have other drives attach to it? There's something that bothers me in what you wrote (your procedure). Did you try to migrate your Win10 key from one computer to the other by simply moving the OS drive over to the new computer? Win10 OEM keys are embedded into the motherboard. Based on what you're stating, it doesn't seem like you ever started with a clean version of Win10 from the very beginning with your new computer/motherboard.

When you reformatted or formatted Win10 on the new computer, did you have all other drives attached?

Hello Xet,

So I've been trouble shooting this for a long time, and I tried my NVME and other storage drives on my old PC and it works flawlessly. We are starting to think its a motherboard issue and not related to the drive itself but as I do not have a second NVME drive its hard to verify.
Here's what I've done so far, skipping the steps I repeated multiple times.

Flashed the Bios x 2
Reset CMOS
Reformated each drive
Installed windows on 500GB SSD and used NVME as storage (NVME Showed up, but on cold restarts it disappeared, reseating it, it would come back, not not consistently).
Tried both M.2 Slots.
Reformated drives that where used.
Installed Windows back on NVME (Other drives unplugged)
Restarted computer 2-3 times, no issue.
shut down Computer
Plugged other drives in and NVME was not detected.
Reseated NVME and it worked.

Restarts - NVME works now.

This is the closest example of the issue I can find but its not 100%
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1224765-m2-nvme-ssds-not-detected-on-cold-boot-works-fine-on-restart-new-pc/

Essentially my NVME is working when I restart my computer not not if I do a cold boot unless I reseat it (which was not consistent originally but appears to be now).

You could be right, that it may be an issue with the motherboard. Or it could be the NVMe storage itself.

When you installed Windows on the (2.5" SATA?) SSD, the NVMe wasn't showing. Now did you confirm this through BIOS or through Windows? I'm trying to see if it was a drive assignment issue or power supply issue.

It was on the 500 GB HDD and I confirmed it through Bios / Windows installer (to see if I could even format or install windows onto it).

Do you have another PSU that you can use to further your tests? After that, I think you can start the RMA/warranty claim process with your motherboard.

I think earlier you mentioned that the NVMe drive is visible and functional on other computer. If this is correct, we can rule out the NVMe itself.

ya I can take the PSU from the other build, its a 750 so perfectly suitable for this computer. I'll try that later this week or tomorrow if I have time. I can exchange the board for up to 15 days.

That is so random...

Just out of curiosity, what brand was your problematic DP cable and when did you buy it?
