ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming 4S-IB (CPUSocket)

im down to buy any SSD, just want the best for my money, down to spend $150 or $100 doesnt matter to me

never heard of the m.2 stuff before

my other SSDs are SATA and the 256GB samsung SSD I want to replace is a SATA cable one so I think I should just buy another SATA one yes?

That's up to you. Your motherboard will support booting from an NVMe SSD. They are about 5-6x faster than a 2.5" wide SSD (the kind that uses a SATA cable)

On your motherboard, you have 2 connectors for NVME SSDs. If you decide to go with an NVMe, then you should probably install Windows on that one.

If it was me I'd just get a regular 2.5" SSD (uses cable) ... w/e size you want. Like the Samsung 860 EVO. Like this...
