For example; better quality and fanless functionality. Every product has a chance to be defective, we all know that. Gold rating doesn't imply better parts nor does it imply a silent fan. It's entirely based on the efficiency at which it handle the electricity it draws.
Over time it can be better to go gold to save money but that entirely depends on the total usage of the machine.
Most generic users won't see much if any actual gains over the life of the system.
