Yes. You can't mix and match types of ram. If you ever want to upgrade again with your current computer, you'll have to do it with two 8 GB sticks. You want to use ram from the same manufacturer and same specifications. You can cause some BSOD if you mix and match ram sticks.

The extra ram will help in doing more tasks at the same time, such as running a game while having chrome out with a couple of tabs open. If you feel like your computer struggles to do multiple things, then the extra ram will definitely help. In terms of loading times and what not, SSDs are usually what causes better performance in that department.

Honestly idk. I've been using old ass ssds. Bigger is better and you can get a pretty decent ssd size for 60-100 bucks.

E: If you get an SSD, the best way to boost your computer performance will be to install windows on the SSD and have it be your main drive. I'm not the person to tell you how to do that, but I'm sure someone in here can point you in the right direction.

HDDs are hard drives that have movable parts. The SSDs are solid state drives, they have no moving parts, and have massive read/write speeds. The difference between the two is that HDDs are cheaper and are generally better for storing large amounts of data due to the cost vs performance. The SSDs are great but generally are almost exponentially more expensive than their HDDs counterpart. If you use any random SSD as your main drive you will definitely increase the performance of your computer.

Tom's hardware did a test showing how much faster an samsung 840 pro was vs a velociraptor 10000 RPM HDD

https://img.purch.com/ssd-6gb-3gb/w/451/aHR0cDovL21lZGlhLmJlc3RvZm1pY3JvLmNvbS81LzEvMzgxMjA1L29yaWdpbmFsL0Rlc2t0b3BfUGVyZm9ybWFuY2UucG5n

The limiting factor for getting an SSD is that your motherboard doesn't have any SATA 6GB/s slots, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem because most ssds, even the cheapest ones, will give you great performance.

E: That test was to test out how you will perform with a regular SATA 3 GB/s instead of a SATA 6 GB/s.
