Both choices are fine, just CPU will be comparable to the following generations for longer. 8000 series is the only choice for that chipset. Next series won't use it.

Going from 8400 to 8600k/8700k won't make sense later either.

Initially had a 7700k with aio and no gpu. Was rough for a couple weeks but saved for a 1080 ti. 10/10 would do again lol

Couple more questions :

Can or should I vertical mount the cpu cooler if I get an air one for now?

Can I just go with the m.2 ssd for now if I'm not going to be doing anything too crazy for a bit?

Also is it worth pre-ordering a 1070 ti? Or there should be enough of them on launch day?

What do you mean going with the m.2 for now? M.2 ssd is much faster than sata.

Personally, I would just stick with Samsung for any type SSD needs.
