Unfortunately, Jim Keller's 40 inch thick forearms were not enough to pull Ryzen out from the ocean of shit laid down by Raja "Poo on The Shoe" Koduri and his team of My Name Jeff Habibi wagon wheelers AMD employs for their cpu division. The only step up from bulldozer is that they dropped the failed CMT designed and finally moved on from 32nm so their cpu's are no longer pulling as much power and heat as a sandy bridge chip that's been made 4x larger and had actual fecal matter wafting in from the streets drift into the fluxless solder and ruin the heat transfer even more and make every house sporting a bulldozer chip smell like a sewer while it's under load.

Goddamn, the hate is real. What changes do you think will occur in the next 13 months that might make me not choose a 8700k(given the other hardware describer earlier)?

+1 to the 8700k, and to add to that your 980ti will be fine for a good while yet. Especially if you are at 1080p. I run 144hz 1440, with sli 980 ti's and my frames are amazing. Even games that don't support sli I usually have no issue getting near or above 100 fps. Been running this setup for almost 2 years, have no intention to upgrade any time soon.
