I mean you literally told him to buy more ram as if it would help him at all which it won't
Then proceed to tell him to buy a gpu that would be held back by the cpu.

Obsolete would imply your advise was good at one point but its wasn't.

Any gpu would be though

Same with a cpu if he upgraded only that

I usually just advise people to upgrade the gpu because it's easy to carry over, if they aren't looking to completely upgrade

Granted hence why I opted for a 8350, can be easily oc'ed and still stay some what relevant.
Not to mention its a super cheap upgrade at 50$ used. Probably also the safest part to buy used as well.

with only 300$ to spend he can pimp that rig with used parts.

This is definitely a good idea because you won't need to change your mobo or anything else.

Thats another reason I usually don't advise cpu purchases unless it's really dated

With the ryzen drop these chips are everywhere. should be able to sell old one (6300) and get a quick 20.
so with only 30$ invested your looking at 20-25% gains on the cpu. right out the gate, allowing you more gpu options.

I'm sure you can grab a decent used card with 220$, something like a 970 or higher.
Which would be almost 200% gains without a bottle neck.

You won't even need to oc the 8350 if you didn't want to either as it won't bottle neck with a 970.

Artur is better at this than I am

Just figured you'd appreciate more than one opinion.

I was on a 8350, 16 GB RAM and a old r7 260x GB and it was still running like a charm so you can consider doing what he's telling you getting a 8350 + a used gpu it's probably ur best bet
