Don't get a 6600k if you're not getting a Z170 motherboard. Just get an i5-6500.

And I have a very nice laptop and still never use it. Paid like $1500 for it and put maybe 75-100 hours in on it in the last year.
ZzZzZz you sure pick and choose what you want to read eh?
I have many personal reasons for not wanting to go the laptop route.
Hot exhaust on my legs.
Noisy fans when everything is getting taxed.
Uncomfortable weight for long periods of time.
Minimal upgrading choices which require to buy a whole new system.
Increased difficulty of swapping out parts if anything ever did fail.
No customizability.
Like 25% the speed of an equivalent priced desktop when it comes to an all purpose unit running both games and cpu intensive applications.

I could go on.

This thread is NOT about whether I should use a desktop or laptop and it's not about whether I should or shouldn't build a portable system. I am sure my computers/consoles have seen more road miles than 95% of the people who have traveled with their rigs. I am perfectly comfortable in driving with my pc. Fact of the matter is if I don't build this 800$ rig, then I'm risking a 3000$ rig. Pick your poison.

Edit: but thank you for your insight.

Yet, they still make them....and sell them.

It's ok to get what you want. I'm pretty sure you WILL also (in the near future) have a list of reasons, why transporting a desktop is not really doable on a repeated basis.

Like I said... Good luck. ;)

I don't know what you don't understand about the fact I transport my 3k$ computer every weekend for a minimum of 8 hours... EVERY weekend. I've also had game consoles hooked up in my truck as well. So yes, yes it is quite doable because I do it every weekend. Should I say it one more time that I transport a non supported full tower every weekend for 8+ hours?
I'm tired of carrying a heavy watercooled PC around and since the footprint of the node 202 is equal to a game console this would remove having to bring my main pc as well as my console with me everywhere.

Like I said as well thanks for your insight. However it is completely null to me as I'm PERFECTLY comfortable transporting a pc as well as PERFECTLY replacing a part if it was to fail. Much better to fail on a sub 1k pc that a 3k pc.

Anyways back on topic I was looking for input on the parts themselves, what I should switch out (like the i3 and 6500 recomendations), where I could save a little or if I should spend a little more to get larger performance increase.
