Thanks, wish I read this before. I wonder if it has anything to do with why my gpu just crashed for the first time since the overclock.

Lots of thing can cause crashes.

Custom bios would be the best way to push it more. And your temps are fine, just crank it.

But yes keep the fan on your bracket going. Should be able to get around 1350ish custom bios .. maybe.

Think it's something I can do carefully coming from the knowledge level I'm at or should I leave it as is? Currently at 6030 benchmarks on timespy, before the overclock I was at 5140. Was at 28-34fps in Ark Survival now I'm at 46-54. So even a bigger jump than the Timespy benchmarks oddly enough. Allowed me to play in my native 3440x1440p. I had to play in 2560x1440 before to get acceptable fps (Black bar fail).

If I were you I would add a second 980 ti for 3440x1440

I run 3440x1440 on 2 980 tis and some newer games gives it a run for its money.

Curious have you thought of upgrading?

I think we're all looking to upgrade when that vega/1080 ti come out

but uh sort of to steal the comment. if you are thinking of upgrading, we get new big daddy gpus next month, so that'll be the time to really consider upgrading from the 980 ti/1070

The 1080 ti is going to have to blast me in the face for me to consider it

I think I'm gonna skip on unlocking the bios, feel like I'm getting in over my head at risk of damaging the shit I spent an asston of money on. I'm still mad I bought my 980ti what feels like 6 months at $700 and now it's worth $300. Like the Weird Al song "My computers got the clocks, it rocks, but it was obsolete before I opened the box".

Just for fun if anyone's interested on how it looks. I am the king of spending $1000's and having it look like a messy cheap piece of crap lol. Note: The CPU is crooked for a reason, it was a Corsair fail. Was the only way to get the adaptor to stay tight. Was a nightmare to diagnose.

Only risk is your pc shutting down while flashing your BIOS or if you flash the wrong bios. Its really easy and I've done it probly 35 times now on my 970 no problem.

I meant the risk in adjusting the voltages and possibly other figures I don't know enough about. I'm sure I could easily load a new bios on there if it's anything like redoing the bios on a phone.

well yeah voltage obviously but it's just like overclocking your cpu in that regard, simply don't set it too high. many cards are physically limited on how much voltage they can put out anyway. Also, there's a few guys over on OC.net that rlly know what theyre doing and you can upload your bios to them, and have them edit for you.
