Well I disagreed with all of you guys, so it logically follows that you disagree with my point :p

I do not think Kaby or Zen will bring significant enough changes to wait for them outright if he is wanting to upgrade now.
This unfortunately is just going to be up to him on whether he wants to do 1 upgrade or 2 and wants to deal with doing more research/coming back here once the chips finally launch.

So the way I see it, upgrading now and later have pretty much the same effect as far as his computer is concerned. But this way he gets fairly instant gratification.

Well the earliest he wanted to upgrade was around new year. The new gens of CPU's would be days/few weeks away.
But i see your point tho. CPU's been a low increase each gen the last 8 years or so. At least this time Zen should be significantly better than their current CPU's. at least IPC.

Amd zen seems to be launching early 2017....

Might make sense to at the very least hold out and see what the chipsets do...

Will amd finally release something that isnt shit though ?

I Had always owned AMD until this 2500k but couldnt justify buying crap like the fx series

If its launching in early 2017 it must have benchmarks and stuff out already ... anything impressive?
