Paying thousands for a rig that will do what this does is a waste of money.

Save your pennies, I'm not asking for you .02 cents on amd or the fm2 socket.

860k is a joke

A dual core intel g3258 out performs it.

Outperforms means nothing really if the cpu in question is capable of doing exactly what you need it to do.

Well when you're talking pretty much the EXACT same cost between the intel g3258 & the 860k (And the intel overclocks higher too) Then It's pretty silly to get the 860k 'because it does what i need it to'

But either way, You sound like you have your mind made up on what you want, So i guess we'll stop trying to talk you out of buying shitty out-dated pc hardware.

g3258 is also cheaper, 860k usually sell closer to $100. Both CPU are waste of money to build around though.

I'd build around 6100 minimum, and you're only paying slightly more but getting a ton more benefits.
Use remaining $$ on powersupply & pick a case for your own preference.
Ask anyone with comp knowledge if they would purchase a 6100 build for $50 more or 860k and 10/10 they will pick the 6100.

If you're set on getting the 860k, go for it. We're just trying to give you a heads up cuz it's a poor choice to build around.
If 965 wasn't a prob for you, any CPU made after would do its job anyways.

Because I don't plan on upgrading past whatever I build. It'll be a useful second pc to game on that didn't cost me much.
In a couple years when I decide to I can look at what else is available.

I'm not opposed to going the 6100/6300 fx route.

Used cpu's worth a look to really save money? Found some fx63xx chips for around 70$
