Samsung/intel are top reliable brands, however they carry a premium.

Mushkin is a great value for ssds and I would recommend them.

Read some reviews and a couple of the more budget friendly brands definitely have some isses.

This is a list I put together, I included the OS just in case. Feedback?

The m.2 drive really isnt necessary. The 850 evo or pro would be better for price to storage.
Do you really need a DVD drive?
Zotac would be the last of the video cards I would suggest. Gigabyte>Asus>Evga in that order would be the best to offer for the 1080s
And I would recommend an all in one cooler if you decide to down the road overclock your cpu for some more performance.

Besides that, everything looks good on the list.

Thanks for the post, I appreciate it very much. I've been thinking and IU would like to add a couple of things:

I would prefer the primary drive to be around half a terabyte (480 or so). I don't need a secondary drive.

No problem. Are you going to buy this in Canada or USA?

If you are going to buy it in the US. You shouldn't be going for the Zotac, its a fine card, but i feel like some of the other brands would be more reliable

The reason i went with the Zotac GeForce GTX 1080 8GB AMP! Edition is because it was fair price compared to the rest in stock.
I can recommend Asus Strix, MSI Twin Frozr, Evga FTW/ACX and Gigabyte G1 if you are able to find any of these decent price in the end of July..

The 950 Pro actually won't make you boot faster or load games fast, it can actually have an negative impact on boot time.
Its mostly made for programmers and graphical artists with video editing which is going to save/load/move huge amount files.

Go for a 500gb 850 evo. NVMe SSD's like 950pro can be a bit complicated setting up to.

Are you sure you want that case? Its quite big, its designed to house XL ATX and EATX motherboards

The 3600MHz RAM is just way to expensive, you are not going to see any performance increase over 3000MHz RAM for almost half that price.

You can get legit windows keys on kinguin for 20-28$

Any reason you went for a such an expensive motherboard, it probably just offers some features you will never use. compared to 150$ ATX
