I wouldn't plan on playing much on a $500 laptop at 1920x1080

I guess that might be possible. Assuming I could even find a 1366x768 with a discreet grfx card. :)

GTX 960 might be a little too much for her budget but I believe she would be content with just being able to run DOTA and at most OverWatch

Thats my version of shouting on the internet, that's literally the best you can find for that budget. you can even try to lowball the dude for like $400 and buy a laptop cooler and a copy of windows 10 with the extra dosh.

960M runs most games just fine. I would not expect to run new games on maximum settings with a laptop, anyway.

Oh, and gaming laptop for 450 ain't gonna happen.
