4770k -> 4790k is pointless.
A GTX 1080 will be pointless at 1080p.

Well ... i have a 144hz monitor and i can barely get 60 fps on GTA V or The division or Witcher 3.
I'd rather play 120 FPS @ 1080p than 50fps at 4k, matter of choice tho.

Would i be able to OC my 4770k to 4.4 GHZ with my noctua?
Between i got someone willing to swap my 4770k vs 4790k for 40$ so i guess it's worth the swap ..?

For $40 I would swap. Assuming the 4790K is not beat to shyt. The 4790K should be able to get 4.7Ghz.

Another option is to get the 1070 and a 1440p monitor.

Just bought this

1 week ago, so yeah i'm not planning on upgrading to higher res for now.
I'd rather get more FPS for now.

I'll swap my CPU and check on Watercooling and i'll wait for 1080 or 1080ti to come out and see what they are capable of.
Thanks guys for the tips.

Keep your CPU and overclock it.
Wait for 1080's release.
Wait a nother week or two for 980ti to drop in price.
Get yourself a used (pre-tested) 980ti that overclocks decently.

Done.

The ONLY thing you change is, wait a few days and buy a 1080, and sell your 970.
Dont need to change anything else.
