would not recommend the gtx 970 anymore. It is kinda old and struggles with newer titles at high resolutions due to the lack of VRAM. The 390 is the better pick.
Also if you want a quite pc get a larger cooler. Maybe the Macho Rev.B. (be carefull as it does not fit every case)
If you have not build a lot of computer before then you should stay far away from Arctic Silver 5 and any other conductive thermal compound. Simply use the one that is included in the cooler.

Your wrong about that one. The 2.5inch 850evo performs better then the m.2 version. Even tho not by much.

its not from lack of vram its from it performance why does 970sli consistently beat 980ti?

Because the lack of vram does not cause your average FPS to drop much, it makes your frametimes unconsistant.

currently it is only a hand full of games under certain settings, where you need more then 3.5GB, but it will get worse in the next years.

Fallout 4, Farcry 4, shadow of mordor, hitman
Thats the first 4 that came to my mind. Fallout 4 seems to be the worst. I currently only have a couple of mods installed and I hit 4.7gb.

Funny how every single comparison sites has the 980 ti at higher benchmarks and performances than the 970 SLI. Not the mention the fact that many games still don't support SLI options.

I don't really need to NAME fucking games, when theres issues everywhere with SLI still.
If you already have a GTX 970 and want to cheaply upgrade by running SLI, then state so. But 970 SLI is not worth running if you have to buy 2, since the 980 TI beats it in almost every single test.
