i7 6700k
evga gtx 980ti or a similar aftermarket one
16gb 2x8 3000mhz ddr4 (any works, they all have lifetime warranties)
evga supernova g2 850
any good z170 board (msi gaming m5 / m7 is ok)
literally any air cooler, nh-d15 from noctua would be good here
samsung 850 evo or pro 250gb ssd
1-2tb wd blue or seagate barracuda hdd
corsair strafe keyboard
logitech g402 / g502 mouse

i'd get the define r5 or define s or corsair 750d or w/e for a large tower with plenty of space for upgrades and airflow
850w psu for future gpu upgrade or sli etc

Yep, something like this....

why??

much better: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/FCbYyc
can swap the zotac with the 980ti ftw, but if he isn't keen on overclocking then w/e
you have a better chance of getting higher asic 980ti's on vendors other than evga because they take the nicest cores for their k|ngp|n edition

I thought we concluded in a big discussion thread a few weeks ago that if you're streaming, the 5820k will perform better for you?

I could be wrong but I thought I remembered that. Either way, both chips are dope but the x99 platform has a ton more room for upgradability.

I also have read that it doesn't work exactly like the LGA 115x chips and isn't proportionally as difficult to cool per watt as the smaller chips. They have a soldered IHS and everything.

My build is better. :/
The benchmarks all have the H100I as a better cooler.
Anyone who picks Zotac over EVGA is insane.

But it's all up to the OP. :)

Yes and no. Like I said, the 6700K will do all this just fine and do it at a lot cooler temp. 140W compared to 91W <---- 50 watts or 1/3 cooler.

Overclocking and performance wise the Zotac 980ti is probably gonna be better than the EVGA FTW cause of the binning Sayaka said. They usually are right up at the top in benchmarks

The 5820k isn't really any harder to cool than the 6700k cause of the soldered IHS, an h110i GTX or h100i GTX would definitely be enough to get a huge overclock on it. I don't get the point of 100$ air coolers either tho lol

And he wants upgradability so this will give him the potential to upgrade to a 10 core Broadwell-E if he wants. For a 2500$ build it just makes more sense

6700k is more than capable of 1080p 60fps even at stock speeds, the higher per-core performance (you'll clock a 6700k higher than a 5820k 100% of the time) helps games run faster/better if they're cpu intensive

no chance of water leak on a two tower metal cooler and it's a lot quieter
have fun tearing your ears off with the "performance/max" setting on the h100i just to match the tc14pe while the phanteks fans are at 700-1200rpm whisper silent performing about the same
high quality air cooler > standard watercooler every day.

i fail to see how your build is better anyway ~_~

5820k may make more sense but i don't see him sidegrading to a 10core broadwell-e chip instead of just selling his current board+cpu and getting the newest shit
it's cheaper to run the 6700k anyhow.
