Im looking around 1300..i dont really havea budget, i just want some nice, quality gear cuz all my time is on the computer.

im going to use it for jus playing games/surfing and perhaps some streaming of games i play, so the i7 has a lot more cache which is nice. and i don't mind spending 100$ on it

Here's a guide:

The Z170 chipset (socket 1151) motherboards go with the 6600K or the 6700K and DDR4 RAM.

The Z97 chipset (socket 1150) motherboards go with the 4790K (or similar) and DDR3 RAM.

You just have to use an 1150 to 1151 socket adapter.

@OP you really don't need an I7 to game. I5s are adequate.

In generall a I7 is not worth it for gaming unless your going for a very high end build. You will get much more benefit if you spend that extra 100$ for a better GPU.
Also unless your building a very small form factor where power consumption is important you should not use a 970 anymore. It starts running into the VRAM issue in newer titles and i dont see this getting any better in the future.
