connection on ethernet is good, plugged it into my laptop to make sure

Check and make sure in device manager that they show up.

download linux live cd/dvd. Boot from that (don't install) and see if it works with that. If so, you know you got a windows/software/driver problem. If it don't work it is your hardware/bios.
