Or keep that Pentium and get a 390
But if you want my opinion a 380 is more than enough for any game unless you got some crazy resolutions, and you should focus on getting a better processor like the 4690k because it is the bottleneck in many games, not the GPU.
He needs a power supply too though and the 4690k and 380x alone is over his budget i believe.
I do agree that if he could afford it, itd be the best option
