My old system's gfx card ran my games @ 1920 x1440. My new Skylake build is running integrated gfx @ 1680 x 1050.
It's not terrible. TBH I expected integrated gfx to be worse. However, it's bearable enough that I can wait for the new line of video cards.
My plan was a gtx 970, instead deciding to wait for Pascel 1070. My expectation is it will perform like them $650 980 ti but only cost $400.

simple 1080p 60hz+ gaming all u need is the 970

1440p 55+fps u need the 980 ti even then single 980ti wont get u 50+ fps in every game and u need a 1k+ monitor to achieve 1440p at good refresh rate

so best bet is a go for a 800-1k build get 970 card in it play smoothly at 1080p ultra for maybe 1-2 years

or

wait for pascal announcement during april 4-7 at gpu tech conference

and broadwell-e cpus at taipei computex june 1-7

so basicly if everything goes to plan new cpu/gpu should com out this year in either q2 or q3 at best if delayed q4 october/november

depends what games you play.

im running i5 4.4 with 980 ti on 28 inch 4k screen, games like diablo/heroes of the storm/poe run perfect at max settings 4k 60 fps
overwatch at high settings 4k goes 60 fps too. max settings 30 fps.
